NEWS Razorbacks hand Dodgers 4th Loss of the year
Tuesday night brought the Red Deer Razorbacks to town. A pitching duel between the Dodgers Brian Smith and Red Deers Tom Rodzinyak it was. After 4 innings complete it was only 1-0 for Red Deer, on an unearned run. Then in the top of 5 the Razorbacks got to Smith with a pair of runs on a couple of walks, a hitbatmen and a single. In his 4 2/3 innings Smith recorded 5 strikeouts while only giving up 2 hits and walking 3 with a hit batsmen.
Myles Shaw came in, in relief in the 4th for the Dodgers and shut down the Razorbacks the rest of the way. The 3 run lead was all that was needed for Rodzinyak as he shut out the Dodgers for the complete game victory. Myles had 4 K`s while not giving up a hit or a walk in his 3 1/3. But the Dodgers offense did nothing as they didnt have anyone with 2 hits in the game. Leading offensively would have been Shaw who hit a lead off double in the bottom of 7 to give the Dodgers a chance. They could not cash him in. The Dodgers hosted the Eckville Expos Thursday night as a kick off to Lacombe Days. With a crowd out to watch they came out victorious. Brian Ross got the start for the Dodgers and had a good day in 4 innings of work. Ross struke out 3 and allowed 6 hits with 2 walks when he came out after 4, and the Dodgers down 6-5. While only 3 of those runs were earned, the Dodgers battled back and tied it at 6 in their bottom half of 4.
Kale Weirenga came in, in relief and allowed only 1 run over the last 3 innings. Kale had 7 K's while allowing 2 hits and had 2 hit batsmen in his 3 innings of work. After tieing it in the 4th, the Dodgers rallied for 8 runs in the bottom of 6 to take over the game. Offensively the Dodgers were solid from top to bottom with many guys having multiple hit games. Brendan Huber lead the way going 2-3 with a walk and scoring 3 runs. While Andre Touchette, Tim Wasdal, and Brian Smith all went 2-5 on the day and combined to score 5 times. Final score 14-7. Friday night the Dodgers headed down to Innisfail for the 2nd game of the season series. After a shortened rain out victory for the Dodgers in game 1, game 2 brought extras. Tim Wasdal once again got the start for the Dodgers. Wasdal went 4 innings in the no decision effort. Tim had 2 strikeouts while allowing 7 hits and 2 hit batsmen with no walks in his 4 innings of work. The Indians took the lead in the bottom of 1 by scoring a run. Then Dodgers responded with a run of their own in the 2nd, while Indians again scored in bottom of 3, to be up 2-1 after 3. The Dodgers scored 1 in the top of 4 with the Indians answering with 2 in the bottom half, to lead 4-2 after 4 complete. The Dodgers scored 3 in the bottom of 6 to take the lead 5-4 going into bottom of 7. Brendan Huber came in the 5th in relief of Wasdal, and allowed 1 run in the bottom of 7 for the Indians to tie it at 5. The Dodgers then scored 2 in the top of 8, while they shut down the Indians in the bottom half to take the 7-5 extra innings victory. Huber had 4 strikeouts while allowing 3 hits and 1 walk for the win. Offensively the Dodgers were lead by Huber as well, going 2 for 3 with a walk and scoring twice in the game. Tim Wasdal also had a good day at the plate going 2 for 4 with a walk.
Dodgers avenge loss to Expos
Tuesday night the Dodgers headed out west to take on the Expos. The Dodgers had Kale Weirenga on the mound, and he went the distance for the win. Sadly official stats were not kept this game, but Kale threw a great game allowing only 1 earned run in the 7-3 Dodger win. Offensively the Dodgers were sound and were lead by Brandon Dick going 3-3 on the day. Kevin Waldern and Tim Wasdal also had a big days, both scoring twice in the effort.

The Dodgers hosted the Innisfail Indians Tuesday night. Tim Wasdal took to the mound. Wasdal only had to go 4 innings for the win, as the rain stopped the game in the bottom half of 4. The Dodgers were leading 3-0 when the game was called. As league rules apply, any game after 4 or 3 1/2 if the home team is ahead, is considered a complete game if called due to weather. Wasdal gave up 3 hits with no walks and had 2 strikeouts, without allowing a run. Offensively, Kevin Waldern lead the way going 1-2 with 3 RBI's in the game. While Andre Touchette kept a hot bat going, going 2-3 on the day. The Dodgers got 2 in the 1st off Walderns double and 1 in the 3rd for the 3-0 rain out victory.

Sunday the Dodgers turned it around with 2 victories over the Olds Athletics. Game 1 was a convincing win for the Dodgers, with the final score 10-2. Myles Shaw went the distance for the win. He had 6 strikeouts in the game and only allowed 6 hits, and 1 walk in the effort. The Dodgers were lead offensively by Andre Touchette and Brian Smith, both going 4-5 in the game. Touchette had 4 RBI's in the effort, while Smith came around to score 3 times. The game was tied at 2 after 4, but then the Dodgers scored 3 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th and 2 in the top of 7 for the 10-2 win.
Game 2 of the double header was closer, but the Dodgers took the victory. Brendan Huber got the start for the Dodgers and again starting pitching went the distance. Huber gave up 7 hits, had 1 walk along with 6 K's the the 7 innings pitched. Andre Touchette and Brian Smith were joined by Brandon Dick leading the offense. All going 2-3 in the game. Again Touchette had another RBI game driving in 3. While Brandon Dick had a walk to go along with his effort. The Dodgers went down early in this game on a few errors in the 2nd, and were losing 4-3 after 2 innings of play. But they scored 1 in the 5th and 3 in the top of 7. While Olds could only generate 1 run in the bottom of 7 for the 7-5 Dodger victory. This brings the Dodgers record to 6-3 on the year, and back into soul possession of 2nd in the North Division. Friday night the Dodgers travelled west to face the Eckville Expos and came out with a loss. Brian Smith got the start for the Dodgers going all the way in the 3-2 loss. Brian had 6 K's and gave up 6 hits, and 2 walks in the loss. The Dodgers just couldnt get anything going offensively. They only had 3 hits in the game. They were lead by Ron Cook, Myles Shaw and Kale Weirenga, all going 1-3 on the day. Kyle French got win for the Expos going all 7 strong with 6 K's , 2 walks and only the 3 hits against. This was Eckville's first win of the season.
The Dodgers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first but couldn't get anymore against French in the game. The Expos scored 2 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th for the win. Tuesday night had the Dodgers defeat the Rocky Red Dogs in Rocky Mountain House 5-3. The Dodgers were lead by the Smith brothers, Andrew Smith going 2-3 with a double and a 2 run home run, Brian Smith going 3-4 with a 3 run home run. The Dodgers could have put the game out of reach, but they left 8 runners stranded in the game. Brian Ross got the start for the Dodgers going 5 2/3 strong, giving up only 1 earned run. Brian had 3K's, 2 walks and 6 hits. Kale Weirenga came in to close out the last inning and a 1/3, and shut the door.
